Fachest Church

Nearly at the southern most tip of Loch Suil, this autonomous city was created as a joint project by the Library city of Athuair and Midtown for the NPCs that appeared in Triudomhan, but didn't fit in with small town or rural life. It was dubbed Fachest when an NPC, with a very thick accent, said it was the farthest you could go without hitting the mountains. Its population is primarily single adults, with a few young couples and some families. Fachest was known as the city that did nothing for a while because of the general apathy of it's citizens. As a result they now have a mayor that is taking control. Important information on the law of Fachest is contained in the first post of the Fachest Town Hall thread.

Fachest Church

Fachest Church

This Church was formed by a new group of believers from the immigrant camp who decided to establish a new church in Fachest when it was first built. There was a man in the camp, Paul Herman, who used to be pastor until his wife came down with cancer and died. All alone he become disillusioned, and abandoned his faith. Being encouraged by Father Asa, he decided to rededicate his life to God and lead in the new church. The Church is Protestant instead of Catholic. The stained glass windows were made by the same person as the Church in Midtown, though far less ornate than the Midtown Church.

Church hours are; Sunday School- 10:00-10:45 a.m., Sunday Morning Service- 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Sunday Evening Service- 6:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday Night Service- 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Re: Fachest Church

Father Asa had come to Fachest to visit with Pastor Paul, and they were conversing in the church instead of the restaurant they had eaten in (and where Father Asa greeted Giselle's student Luigi Bertolli who was the chef) or Pastor Paul's apartment because he didn't want the conversation to be overheard. Paul Herman had been one of the refugees in the camp outside of Midtown years ago and had moved to Fachest with the others, but with a renewed mission to preach the gospel and save the lost. The church was still rather small, and the work difficult because of the apathy of the vast majority of the people. It was that apathy that was the reason that Cyrus Ragnar and his cohorts were in control of Fachest now, as duly elected officials, and that the constitution of the city had been changed to give them virtually unlimited power.

"We have the curfew in the name of 'Energy Consumption', and now all physically fit adults are required to either take military or emergency medical training, and the emergency medical training is only open to a few qualified people," said pastor Paul. "Those who are not fit but could be are being forced into fitness programs to be fed into the growing army. Fachestian children, as few as there are though having more children is being encouraged regardless of marital status, are being prohibited from going to Midtown school now, or even using the Athuarian education system, but must use Cyrus Ragnar's on-line curriculum. Not only that but a large number of weapons are being constructed in the factories. Granted, a lot of those are being sold to the Exercitians in the far east since that is one thing that the Excelsior Factory does not export, but there is a very big armory right here of stockpiled weapons. Independent thinking, what little there was, is being discouraged and sheep like obedience encouraged. It is all very alarming. Some of the more independent people have already moved out of town, and the general apathy seems to be feeding the beast all the more. I'm not sure what to do."

"Dat is very alarming," said Father Asa gravely. "I haf seen things like dis before, but dis world is not like others. I don't know what he aims to do with such an army as he can not hope to contend with the real powers in Aleriand and Yokaisekai. Even his closest neighbors would be a challenge. A war would cause great damage, yes, but he would gain very little at the most and would likely loose everything if he tried. I think the sheep like following here more of a danger than the weapons and military training. Your job here is all the more important because of dat. You must continue to teach and preach against the errors of worldly thinking, break through the apathy, and train people up in the way of the Lord."

"Of course you're right Father Asa," said the pastor. "I'm glad that we're having this conversation. It helps set my mind straight on things."

After their conversation Father Asa returned home full of concerns and prayers for Fachest.
