Kazhad Dwarf Mines

This is a large mountain chain with multiple spurs central to the continent of Talamh, reconstructed from both the Mysterious Mountains and the Spiney Back Mountains of North and South Erinaceus of old Locura. It is largely unexplored and contains many unknown mysteries, as well as the dwarven mines north of Midtown, the Athuarian stellar observatory, and the railroad lines connecting the Central Valley to the Three Cities of the Accipio Valley.

The Kazhad Dwarf Mines are just northeast of the Midtown boundary (outlined in blue) in the Mana Mountains. They supply nearly all of the metals used in the Excelsior Factory. There is a train station at the border (underground), and the freight line between Kazhad and the Factory is constantly running with raw materials to the Factory. The line between Rocky Port and the Kazhad station is also on dwarf lands but was given to Midtown as part of the ongoing agreement between the two sovereign states. The mines and dwellings of the dwarves there are all underground with a few farms and ranches in the valleys above ground. They jealously guard their land against intruders.
(Central Valley Railroad Main Thread)

At the beginning of Triudomhan many people were drawn into the world near Midtown, a group of dwarves included. Midtown undertook the feeding and care of these people at the cost of their own resources until places for them to fit in were found. Some became factory workers. Others went the the city of Fachest that was established as a joint project of Midtown and the Library City of Athuair. The dwarves asked for a grant of land and the food, tools, and other things they would need to establish themselves in exchange for delivering raw materials to the factory free of charge. (A similar agreement was made with establishing Rocky Port and the free goods that came there from Aleriand.) For all their secretiveness the dwarves of Kazhad maintain good relations with the people of Midtown.
