The Hanayomebashi Bridge

This archipelago forms a bridge (literally) between Aleriand and Yokaisekai. The islands are ruled by fays, who also maintain the bridge that spans them. Each island grouping is ruled by its own king who is in turn answerable to the High King of the fays.

This area also includes the Middle Sea which is not under any specific authority.

The Hanayomebashi Bridge

The Hanayomebashi Bridge
Image
Spanning across the ocean between Aleriand and Yokaisekai, and touching down on most of the larger islands that made up the Hanayomebashi, is the Bridge. Made by the fays of Aleriand to allow for travel back an forth between the two continents, the bridge is like starlight and sunlight congealed into a wide span of solid stone that crosses vast spaces of ocean as it hops gracefully from island to island. The street of the bridge was made to resemble shining cobble stones that glittered like pearls in the bright sun, bordered by white marble walks with gold tracery and artistic balustrades in white and gold floral forms. The slender arched pillars that seem to give the bridge support actually vanish as they approach the water. No passing ship would ever come near them. Along the way there are tower like structures that jut out from the sides. These are shelters for pilgrims who travel on foot to rest in, or spend the night, and there are side roads wherever the bridge touches down on an island (so that people might go to the various places there), though pilgrims were warned not to leave the main highway if they wished to reach their destination within their lifetime. Fay islands can be perilous things to mortals.

At the Aleriand end of the bridge is the village of Dongzhanqiao (Eastern Landing), and at the Yokaisekai end is the iron gate of Nishimon.

This thread is for the bridge itself. Each island group has it's own thread as listed here with the name of the local king. Captial letters represent large islands, lower case small islands, and numbers the capital island, in order from Aleriand to Yokaisekai.
